A little about Ella

My name is Ella Abou Hegaza. I am 7 years old, and I made this website to have fun and learn new things.

I am in first grade right now, and soon I will be in second grade.

My first grade teacher is Miss G, and my kindergarten teacher is Miss Canole.

I go to elementary school, and I am excited because I have more time to keep building my website.

If you want to know more about me, you can send me a kind note through my family.

Arabic Alphabet

How to Learn Arabic Letters

Start by looking at one letter at a time. Say its sound slowly, listen to the example word, and then try saying it yourself.

Arabic is read from right to left, so the letters may feel a little different at first, and that is okay.

How Breathing and Fire Work

This little lesson shows how our bodies use oxygen, breathe out carbon dioxide, and why fire acts differently with fresh air and a puff from our mouth.

Oxygen

We breathe in oxygen, and our bodies use it to help us live and move.

Carbon Dioxide

We breathe out more carbon dioxide after our bodies finish using oxygen.

Carbon Monoxide

Carbon monoxide is a dangerous gas. We should never breathe it in.

Lungs take in oxygen and send out carbon dioxide.

The flame stays tall when fresh air keeps bringing oxygen.

Fresh air brings in oxygen, so the flame stays bright.

Why the Flame Changes

When a candle gets oxygen from the air, it can keep burning. When we blow on a small candle, our breath moves the flame, cools it down, and has less oxygen than fresh air, so the flame can go out.

Carbon monoxide is different from carbon dioxide. Carbon monoxide can be dangerous and poisonous, while carbon dioxide is the gas we breathe out more of after using oxygen.
